Hayley grew up in Santa Cruz and attended Harbor High School. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Michigan State University where she worked as a teacher’s assistant and found a love for teaching. After MSU Hayley moved to Washington, DC to join the DC Teaching Fellows and earned her Master of Arts in Secondary Math Education. While earning her Masters she taught math full time at Cardozo Senior High School. In 2008, Hayley moved back to Santa Cruz and started work as a math teacher and water polo coach at San Benito High School in Hollister. She currently teaches Geometry, Pre-Calculus Honors, and AP Statistics. Hayley hopes to inspire other math majors to become educators through the Cal Teach program. For fun Hayley likes to play water polo (she played at MSU), and enjoy the beach with her family, friends and dog Sparty.
