Molly graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in physical geography. Her areas of focus were ethnobotany, biogeography, geology, and geomorphology. She has two teaching credentials: life science and music; a master’s degree in education administration from San José State University; and a doctorate in science education from UCSC. Molly was a music teacher at New Brighton Middle School in Capitola for five years and has been teaching 6th and 7th grade science there since 2004. Molly also taught high-school biology in southern California. She has two physics majors for sons; and is a pianist, bike commuter, choir member, hiker, vegetable grower, and passionate nonfiction reader.

Cal Teach is excited to announce that Molly is one of the recipients of the California Geographical Society’s 2018 Distinguished Teaching Award. This award honors teachers who are largely responsible for generating a love of geography in others—what an honor!
